After at least 19 Russian drones entered Poland, EU Commissioner Andrius Kubilius wants to expand counter-drone defence in the east quickly. Costs remain open, and Ukraine is to contribute its experience.

Counter-drone defence and the missile dilemma: why expensive interceptors cannot stop the drone flood
An AIM-120C-7 fragment in a Polish tomato field stands for a cost problem in counter-drone defence: hundreds of drones a day against a few million-euro missiles. Interceptor drones and APKWS are seen as ways out – and Austria?

Counter-drone defence around Moscow: Russia builds more than 50 new air defence positions
Counter-drone defence on the Soviet model: since the first Ukrainian drone attacks in May 2023, Russia has again been building a layered air defence ring around the capital. Towers, ramps and landfill mounds serve as sites – but not all positions are manned.

Drone factory in a trailer: French artillery prints quadcopters on site
Drone factory on wheels: the FMA 3D of the 17th Artillery Group in Biscarrosse produces up to 60 drones a day with ten 3D printers – close to the area of operations and for up to 19 hours without external supply.

FPV drones above 7 GHz: Ukraine opens a new round in the frequency war
Ukraine's FPV drones now transmit beyond Russia's frequency tables. Why warning devices and jammers miss them, what limitations the 7 GHz band brings and how long the lead could last.

Interceptor drones against Geran-2: Kyiv moves “Clear Sky” project into regular operation
Almost 550 Geran-2 intercepted in the pilot phase, now 5.3 million euros for expansion: Kyiv is relying on interceptor drones with “Clear Sky”. For now, the system is still considered vulnerable to saturation attacks.

Counter-drone with drones: how Ukraine intercepts Geran-2 and reconnaissance drones in the air
Russia produces the Geran-2 in numbers that air defence missiles cannot keep pace with. Ukraine is therefore increasingly relying on its own drones for counter-drone defence – from quadcopter FPVs to dedicated interceptors such as the Sting.
