About ALSEAMAR
ALSEAMAR is a French underwater technology company and part of the ALCEN group. It was formed in 2015 from the merger of BMTI, ACSA and ATOB and develops, manufactures, operates and maintains underwater systems for ocean science, offshore industries and naval defence. The registered office is in Paris; engineering and production are based in Rousset (underwater robotics, acoustics and marine surveys) and at two sites in Six-Fours-les-Plages (buoyancy modules, radiocommunication and life extension services), with a further buoyancy plant in La Ciotat opened in 2023.
Its main unmanned product is the SEAEXPLORER underwater glider, a project launched in 2007; the 100th unit was built in 2023. The SEAEXPLORER 200 is rated to 200 m and the SEAEXPLORER 1000 to 1,000 m, with stated endurance of up to 135 days and 2,700 km depending on version. The gliders carry modular, interchangeable payloads and are controlled with the company’s GLIMPSE mission planning and fleet control software. ALSEAMAR also operates its own glider survey fleet, which reached 20 units in 2025. Civil customers include CNRS, Ifremer and the Voice of the Ocean Foundation.
For navies, ALSEAMAR offers glider fleets, acoustic and radiocommunication systems, special forces equipment, buoyancy solutions and maintenance. In June 2025 the French Navy ordered an initial capability of five SEAEXPLORER 1000-M gliders, the military version first shown at EURONAVAL 2024, fitted with the AI-based AURIS passive acoustic payload. The same month ALSEAMAR deployed five gliders with the French Navy in NATO’s Task Force X Baltic. At the NATO exercises REPMUS and Dynamic Messenger 2023 in Portugal, a Schiebel CAMCOPTER S-100 relayed SEAEXPLORER data to a combat management system. In May 2025 ALSEAMAR signed a memorandum of understanding with Hanwha Ocean, and in November 2026 it introduced SONUSIA, a distributed underwater surveillance network combining gliders, buoys and seabed nodes.
