About ALX Systems

ALX Systems is based in Hermalle-sous-Argenteau in the Liège area. It was founded in 2018 to provide certified software that makes drones fully autonomous and began building its own hardware in 2024. Airframes, avionics, propulsion and flight software, including GNSS-denied navigation, are developed in-house.

Its main defence product is SQUID, a man-portable loitering munition shown as a prototype at BEDEX 2026 in Brussels and in its final 2026 version at Eurosatory 2026. The company states a range of 50 km, an endurance of 35 minutes, a maximum speed of 55 m/s and a payload of 2 kg, with AI-based final guidance and coordinated multi-drone operation. Army Recognition reports that the design follows requirements identified by the Belgian Armed Forces. Software tools include the ALX-OS drone operating system and the ALX Physics digital twin simulator.

In 2018 ALX Systems won the NATO C-UAS innovation challenge with an interceptor drone. In 2019 CS Group combined its BOREADES counter-drone solution with the company's autonomous interceptor technology, and General Atomics Aeronautical Systems selected ALX in 2019 and again in 2022 to support MQ-9B development under Blue Magic Belgium.
