About Carboteh Technologies

Slovenian defence company from Ljubljana, a spin-off of Guardiaris, that develops the VORTEX family of X-band AESA radars for detecting micro-UAVs, drone swarms and loitering munitions.

Carboteh Technologies d.o.o. is a Ljubljana-based company registered in 2015 and described on its website as a spin-off of the Slovenian simulator manufacturer Guardiaris. It works on air-defence products, among them radar sensors, a non-kinetic air-defence device and training equipment.

VORTEX is a family of three software-defined X-band AESA radars with digital beamforming, micro-Doppler processing, AI-based target classification and electronic counter-countermeasures. The radars are designed to detect, classify and track micro-UAVs, drone swarms, loitering munitions and low-flying helicopters. VORTEX S is intended for integration on armoured vehicles, main battle tanks and remote weapon stations and passes track data via Cursor-on-Target to guns, missiles or jammers; VORTEX M combines AESA and mechanical rotation for 360° coverage of bases and infrastructure; VORTEX X links up to four antennas up to 2 km apart and also tracks ground vehicles and personnel.

BANS is a handheld non-kinetic very short-range air-defence device that stimulates an aircraft's missile launch warning system to trigger the release of flares, and is meant to be used alongside MANPADS against combat aircraft and helicopters. The company also offers MAAT, a trainer for MANPADS operators and aircrews.
