About Droniq

Droniq GmbH is a joint venture of DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung (51 per cent) and Deutsche Telekom (49 per cent), founded in 2019 out of the “Connected Drones” research project that began in 2016. The company is based in Frankfurt am Main and is led by CEO Jan-Eric Putze. It works on integrating unmanned aircraft into airspace shared with manned aviation.

Its core product is a UAS traffic management (UTM) system for registering drones, planning missions and warning of conflicts, which shows manned and unmanned traffic in a combined air picture. Drones are tracked through an LTE modem and SIM card that send their position over the mobile network. Further products include the TraX flight planning app, the VisX air situation display, MyZone Manager for digital airspace management and MyZone Detection for detecting drone activity. The Droniq Academy provides training and consulting on SORA, concepts of operation and operating permits. Customers include police, fire and civil protection services, operators of critical infrastructure and industrial companies.

Droniq also works with the German armed forces. Together with the Bundeswehr Drone Innovation Hub it set up a flight corridor of about 110 km from the Nordholz military airfield via Cuxhaven to Heligoland for long-range drone flights, which supports the Achilles research project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Defence and the European Defence Agency. At the Bundeswehr reservist exercise EISWOLF in 2025 it provided the live air picture and tracked the drones of participating civil protection units, and in 2026 it exhibited at the Euro Defence Expo (EUDEX) in Essen.
