About Durabook

Rugged computing brand of Taiwan's Twinhead International that supplies military-grade laptops and tablets and a range of ground control stations for unmanned aerial, ground and maritime systems.

Durabook is the core brand of Twinhead International Corp., a Taipei-based computer manufacturer founded in 1984 and listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. The Durabook brand was introduced in 2000 with a military-grade rugged laptop; according to the company, its devices are used by most branches of the US Armed Forces. The headquarters are in the Neihu district of Taipei, and Durabook Americas Inc. in Fremont, California, serves North and South America.

The range includes rugged laptops such as the Z14I, S14I and S15 and the Z14I-HG and Z14I-DX3 workstations, rugged tablets from the R8 to the R12 and ATEX-certified tablets for explosive atmospheres. Durabook states that its devices are tested by independent third parties to standards including MIL-STD-810H and MIL-STD-461G and are designed for operating temperatures from -29 to 63 °C.

For unmanned systems, Durabook offers ground control stations based on its rugged tablets and laptops: the GC-R8 and GC-R10 tablet controllers, the GC-R8S and GC-R10S with integrated physical controls, and the laptop-based GC-Z14I, which is in development. Configurable joysticks, direction pads, switches and thumbwheels, Windows 11 or Linux (including WinTAK) and options for third-party RF radio modules and satellite backhaul are available; the company specifies MIL-STD-461G, MIL-STD-810H and IP66. Durabook names defence, public safety, critical infrastructure and industrial inspection as fields of use for the control of UAVs and unmanned ground and maritime systems.
