About Epirus

Epirus is a US defence technology company founded in 2018 and headquartered in Torrance, California. It develops solid-state high-power microwave (HPM) systems; its main product, Leonidas, is designed to disable unmanned aircraft, including drone swarms.

In early 2023 the US Army’s Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office awarded Epirus a $66.1 million other transaction agreement for four Leonidas-based prototypes under the Indirect Fire Protection Capability High-Power Microwave (IFPC-HPM) effort. The first system was delivered in November 2023, and a contract modification of almost $17 million for an upgraded sensor suite followed in November 2024.

Further work includes an $11 million US Marine Corps contract for the HAVOC programme, a cooperative research agreement with the Army’s DEVCOM Ground Vehicle Systems Center on mobile HPM systems and a partnership with General Dynamics Land Systems and Kodiak AI on an autonomous HPM counter-UAS vehicle. The product line also includes Manta sensing and the Kosmos mission suite.
