About Euroatlas

Euroatlas GmbH is a defence technology company based in Bremen, Germany, specialising in naval technologies, power electronics and system integration. Its origins go back to 1962, when it was set up as VAROATLAS, a joint venture of VARO Inc. and ATLAS Elektronik. After belonging to L-3 Communications and, from 2015, to Wärtsilä, the business was sold to the Swedish investment firm Mimir in 2021 and has since operated as a standalone company.

Its flagship product is Greyshark, an autonomous underwater vehicle of about six metres in length designed for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, mine countermeasures and the monitoring of critical underwater infrastructure. Euroatlas develops the vehicle together with EvoLogics of Berlin, with Euroatlas responsible for the hardware and for sales to military users, while EvoLogics contributes acoustics, sensors and software. The prototype was presented at Euronaval 2024. At Euronaval 2026 the two companies unveiled the first series-production vehicle and said orders had been secured from European government customers, with first deliveries planned before the end of 2026. A fuel cell variant is in development.

In August 2025 Euroatlas and Rheinmetall agreed a partnership to integrate Greyshark into Rheinmetall’s Battlesuite digital platform for coastal defence and to develop mission-specific variants. Beyond underwater autonomy, Euroatlas supplies pulse power supplies, modular UPS and frequency converters for naval and subsea use, and power modules for launcher systems, and also offers day and night vision systems and counter-drone technology.
