About FH Wiener Neustadt
The University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt (FH Wiener Neustadt, FHWN) is based in Wiener Neustadt, Lower Austria. Its Aerospace Engineering department describes itself as the only place in Austria where students can obtain a master's degree in aerospace engineering.
The master's curriculum includes a course on autonomy and unmanned aerial vehicles. The department's laboratory equipment comprises a test rig for drone propellers, an open wind tunnel with wind speeds of up to 12 m/s and a lab for fibre-composite parts and material testing; its flagship project is the autonomous transport drone TROGON. Students and lecturers have worked on the aerodynamic concept development of fixed-wing transport drones.
Through the FHWN-owned research company FOTEC, students can also take part in industrial and European Space Agency projects.
