About Nereus Dynamics

Nereus Dynamics ApS was registered in Aalborg in September 2025; its director is Cosmin Ciorba, and the company is registered under the industry code for the manufacture of military aircraft. Co-founder and CTO Andrei Copaci developed the underlying amphibious drone concept as a student project at Delft University of Technology. The company plans to assemble its drones in Denmark using European components.

Its product is a hybrid aerial-underwater vehicle (HAUV), which the company describes as the first of its kind in Europe. The quadcopter-type drone has a sealed central compartment for battery and electronics, can navigate underwater, approach covertly beneath the surface and transition from water to flight in under a second. Nereus Dynamics positions the system as dual-use, with intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance for maritime defence as its first market, alongside offshore infrastructure inspection, marine research, search and emergency response.

The company has so far been funded by business angels and support programmes and intends to raise venture capital to scale production and expand in the Nordic and Baltic countries. In June 2026 it was one of five start-ups selected for the Maritime Stars accelerator run by Erhvervshus Nordjylland and Danske Maritime.
