About Nordic Wing

Danish manufacturer of fixed-wing military drones based at the former air base in Værløse, whose ASTERO ISR reconnaissance drone is used in Ukraine and has been ordered together with the RAPTOR attack drone for the Swedish Armed Forces.

Nordic Wing ApS is a Danish-owned company founded in 2018 that develops and builds fixed-wing unmanned aircraft at the former military air base in Værløse near Copenhagen, including fuselage and mechanical components, final test flights and calibration. Its first drone, ASTERO, was completed in mid-2020 after several years of development. The company says it relies on non-proprietary software and EU suppliers.

The ASTERO ISR is a lightweight reconnaissance drone for hostile environments with a three-stage countermeasure system against electronic warfare; earlier versions were described with a weight of about 4.5 kg and a range of 135 km. In 2023 the International Fund for Ukraine selected the drone for supply to Ukraine, and according to Nordic Wing it has since been in use there, with the company working with Ukrainian units on further development. The Generation 4 version, presented in 2025 and developed with partners in Ukraine and Denmark, offers 92 per cent longer flight time, new radios and additional electronic warfare features. The RAPTOR is a multi-role fixed-wing attack drone carrying an explosive payload with several engagement modes.

In August 2026 the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) announced that it is procuring a reconnaissance-strike system for the Swedish Armed Forces from Nordic Wing, consisting of the Astero reconnaissance drone and the Raptor 2 patrol drone, linked by common software.
