About RIEGL

RIEGL Laser Measurement Systems GmbH was founded in 1978 by Dr. Johannes Riegl. Research, development and production are based at its headquarters in Horn, Lower Austria. The group employs more than 320 people and has subsidiaries in Asia Pacific, Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Japan, South America, the UK and the USA, where its headquarters is in Winter Garden, Florida. Its quality management certification also covers RIEGL Research & Defense GmbH, also based in Horn.

The company builds laser scanners for terrestrial, mobile, airborne, industrial and UAV-based use. Its UAV line includes the VUX series, the miniVUX series and topo-bathymetric scanners such as the VQ-840-G and VQ-860-G, which capture terrain above and below the water surface in a single flight.

In June 2023 RIEGL and Schiebel announced the integration of the VQ-840-G into the CAMCOPTER S-100 unmanned air system. At the NATO exercises REPMUS and Dynamic Messenger 2023 in Portugal, the S-100 used the VQ-840-G, working with the Thales M-Cube mission management system, for mine countermeasures. At REPMUS 2024, sponsored by the UK Royal Navy, the S-100 carried the VQ-860-G and VUX-120 to search for drifting and moored mines.
