About Seaber
Seaber is a company based in Lorient, Brittany, that designs and manufactures micro autonomous underwater vehicles (micro-AUVs) for oceanographic research and naval users. Its YUCO vehicles weigh around 10 kg, measure about 1 m in length, dive to 300 m and run for 8 to 10 hours. The range is built around a common carrier with different payloads, including YUCO-SCAN with side-scan sonar and DVL for mine countermeasures, YUCO-CTD, YUCO-PHYSICO, YUCO-PAM with an acoustic recorder, YUCO-3DSS, YUCO-LUMEN with a camera and YUCO-eDNA.
At Euronaval 2022 Seaber presented RECALL, a recoverable micro-AUV derived from YUCO that serves as a target for anti-submarine warfare training. It reproduces submarine noise and motion in passive, active and combined modes, can be deployed from surface ships or helicopters, and was developed with support from the French Ministry of Defence through the Agence de l’Innovation de Défense. In October 2026 the company introduced RAVEN, a 13 kg AUV navigating with the LYNX optical inertial navigation system.
Seaber takes part in the NATO exercise REPMUS hosted by the Portuguese Navy. In 2022 it supported the Royal Navy with training and trials of four previously acquired YUCO vehicles in Lisbon. During REPMUS 2023, together with Schiebel, the Portuguese Navy and the French Navy, a YUCO was released from a Schiebel Camcopter S-100 uncrewed helicopter, carried out its mission and was recovered by a RHIB.
