About Sine Engineering

Sine Engineering, also written sine.engineering, was founded in Ukraine in 2022 as a counter-UAS team. Having concluded that resilient connectivity is both the most critical and the most vulnerable element of drone operations, it moved on to build its own communication and positioning products for unmanned aircraft. Co-founder Andriy Chulyk is chief executive.

Its platform combines data links that detect and avoid jamming using frequency hopping with a satellite-free positioning system that works with existing autopilots. The navigation calculates position from radio time-of-flight measurements between the drone, a ground station and beacons with known coordinates, using modules smaller than a playing card. The software-first design is updated over the air and is intended to let small numbers of operators control several drones at once and, eventually, swarms.

According to the company, more than 100 UAV manufacturers use its solutions. In early 2025 the Ukrainian Armed Forces were reported to be using the navigation module for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance and to be testing Sine-equipped drone swarms. In October 2026 Sine Engineering and Finland's Insta Defence & Aviation signed a memorandum on the joint development, testing and integration of communication and navigation systems for UAVs.
