About Sonplas
Sonplas GmbH was founded in 1993 in Straubing, Bavaria, and designs and builds special-purpose machines, automated assembly lines and test systems for development and series production. The company employs close to 400 people in Germany and operates subsidiaries in China and the United States. It grew in the automotive industry and has since diversified into battery cell production, hydrogen, medical technology and power tools.
The company entered the aerospace market in 2014 with hydraulic and pneumatic test systems for components, maintenance equipment and functional testing of pumps and pipes. In 2024 Sonplas added defence and security as a business field, offering test benches for pumps and safety-relevant components and transferring its experience in testing fuel-carrying parts to aviation and defence applications.
The Sonplas Group also includes Sturm Surface Technology GmbH in Salching, which specialises in surface and painting technology and automation.
