About SwissP Defence
SwissP Defence AG is headquartered in Thun, canton of Bern, Switzerland. Its history dates back to 1863, when the Federal Laboratory was set up in Thun; from 1874 to 1995 the plant operated as the Eidgenössische Munitionsfabrik Thun. After several mergers it became part of RUAG's small-calibre ammunition business in 2002 and received its current name in 2022, when Beretta Holding acquired RUAG Ammotec.
The company develops and manufactures small-calibre ammunition for armed forces and law enforcement under the SWISS P brand, including precision rifle cartridges for sniper and designated-marksman use. It describes itself as one of the leading European suppliers in this segment and employs several hundred people in Thun.
Within the Beretta Defense Technologies alliance, SwissP Defence serves European military customers and is a regular exhibitor at defence trade fairs in the German-speaking region. Its relevance to the unmanned sector is indirect, through ammunition for kinetic counter-drone engagement with small arms.
