About Thales Deutschland
Thales Deutschland GmbH is the German subsidiary of the French Thales group. Its registered office is in Stuttgart and its headquarters in Ditzingen, where the company consolidated its former Stuttgart, Korntal and Pforzheim sites in 2014. Further locations include Kiel, Wilhelmshaven, Berlin, Koblenz and Ulm. In 2025 the company employed an average of 1,814 people and reported revenue of around 601 million euros and order intake of about 1.65 billion euros. Since January 2024 it has been led by CEO and Country Director Christoph Ruffner.
The German organisation is structured along the group's business units. Land and Air Systems develops and produces highly mobile ground and coastal surveillance radars in Ditzingen that can detect and track people, vehicles, boats and drones, complemented by rocket and mortar warning systems, optronics and night-vision equipment, with service activities in Koblenz. Other units supply combat management and navigation systems for the German Navy from Kiel and Wilhelmshaven, secure military radio, command and key-management systems, training and simulation solutions, and travelling-wave tubes and electric thrusters for space and missile radars from Ulm.
Its most visible drone-related product is the GO12 (Ground Observer 12), a man-portable short-range battlefield radar with 360-degree coverage that detects drones and vehicles in all weather. In June 2026 the German procurement office BAAINBw ordered 60 GO12 radars for the Bundeswehr, including spare parts and training, for delivery in 2026. Thales is expanding radar production in Ditzingen and planned to hire around 300 people in Germany in 2026. The former rail signalling business was sold to Hitachi and is no longer part of the company.
