About VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland

VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd (Teknologian tutkimuskeskus VTT Oy) is Finland's state-owned research and technology organisation, headquartered in Espoo. Defence is one of its research areas.

In 2026 VTT and the Dutch research organisation TNO agreed to expand their cooperation in support of the Finnish and Dutch armed forces, with a focus on drones and counter-drone solutions as well as societal resilience. The two organisations have already carried out a joint drone test at the OuluZone drone test centre in Finland.

VTT has also partnered with Modirum Security Technologies to develop an AI-driven software platform for autonomous UAV swarms in air defence.
