Counter-drone at Enforce Tac: Diehl Defence exhibits Sky Sphere with eMissile Cicada
Net or fragmentation warhead: the electrically powered eMissile Cicada is designed for counter-drone defence against class 1 and 2 drones. Diehl Defence is already talking to potential customers and plans to launch Sky Sphere from 2026.

At Enforce Tac, Diehl Defence showed its Sky Sphere counter-drone system. The focus was on the new eMissile Cicada: it is designed to counter threats from class 1 and 2 drones and was presented in Europe under this name for the first time.
Cicada is an electrically powered missile that is to be used in two versions with different payloads. The non-lethal variant is intended to neutralise drones with a capture net, while the lethal variant integrates a fragmentation warhead as its effector.
Modular counter-drone defence from sensor to effector
As an effector, Cicada is integrated into the overall Sky Sphere system, which covers the complete kill chain from sensor to effector. According to a current Diehl Defence press release, the modular design of Sky Sphere allows it to be expanded to customer requirements – with in-house components as well as those from partner companies.
According to the company, it is currently in talks with potential customers about initial customer-specific integration projects. The system is to be available on the market from 2026.
