CSG appoints David Jacobs to head CSG Defense North America
A new office in Washington D.C., accelerated growth in the US and a former Northrop Grumman strategist: CSG has appointed a president for its North American defence business who reports directly to Chairman Michal Strnad.

The CSG Group has appointed David Jacobs, an experienced defence and finance professional, as President of CSG Defense North America. The group is entrusting him with the management of its new office in Washington D.C. and with responsibility for the strategic development of its US defence activities. Jacobs will report directly to Michal Strnad, majority owner and Chairman of the CSG Group.
Jacobs will set the long-term strategic direction of CSG’s North American defence activities. He will also lead M&A (mergers & acquisitions) activities in the region and build senior-level relationships with the US defence industry, government and the investment community. Based in Washington, D.C., he is also CSG’s most senior representative in the US.
CSG is growing in the United States
The appointment comes as CSG is growing ever faster in the United States. Last year, for example, the US Army commissioned the subsidiary MSM Group North America to design, build and operate a modern facility at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in which 155-millimetre artillery ammunition is loaded, assembled and packed.
According to CSG Chairman Michal Strnad, Jacobs has extensive experience in defence strategy, M&A and investment banking as well as a strong network in industry and finance. This, he said, makes him particularly well qualified to accelerate the group’s growth in North America.
Jacobs worked in the defence industry for more than 15 years, at Northrop Grumman and at Raytheon. His most recent position was at Northrop Grumman, where, as Vice President for Corporate Strategy and M&A, he advised the CEO and the board on corporate and portfolio strategy. Before that, he spent around ten years in investment banking at Merrill Lynch in London and Chicago. Over the course of his career, he has advised on more than 60 transactions with a total value of more than 200 billion US dollars. He holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from the University of Cambridge.
David Jacobs himself commented:
“I am honoured to join CSG at this stage of its growth”— David Jacobs
“CSG has built a compelling portfolio of defence companies and has shown a genuine commitment to the US market. I look forward to working with the Chairman and the leadership of our US subsidiaries to further expand this presence.”— David Jacobs
