Unmanned Systems: Air, Ground & Maritime
Unmanned systems across all domains: aerial, ground and maritime drones in defence and security.

Maritime drone Sancar: Havelsan and Yonca shipyard complete live-fire trials in the Sea of Marmara
In the Sea of Marmara, the Turkish maritime drone Sancar has tested its 12.7-millimetre weapon system with live fire, in the presence of Turkish Navy representatives. At the core of the armed surface vessel is the Advent Rota mission system.

Unmanned systems at sea: NATO exercise off Portugal tests drones in the air, on and under water
32 countries, more than 260 systems, two weeks of trials: off Portugal, the Royal Netherlands Navy and its partners tested unmanned systems. The focus was on swarm technologies, counter-drone defence and mine countermeasures.
Unmanned Systems / Maritime DronesUnderwater drone Remus 620 receives Thales Samdis 600 sonar for mine clearance
An underwater drone from HII, the Remus 620, now works with a sonar from Thales: both companies report that integration has been completed. The focus is on mine countermeasures and the protection of maritime infrastructure.

Underwater drone LUUV: Saab develops new sensor platform for Sweden
The FMV contract under which Saab will design, build and test a large underwater drone for Sweden is worth 60 million kronor. Sea trials begin in summer 2026; for now, the LUUV is not intended to carry weapons.

Mine countermeasures without a crew: Royal Navy brings autonomous minesweeping system SWEEP into service
Mine countermeasures from a safe distance: SWEEP consists of an unmanned surface vessel with modular payloads and mimics ship signatures. For the Royal Navy, it is the first dedicated minesweeping capability since 2005.

Underwater drones from Plymouth: Helsing builds “Resilience Factory” in England
German start-up Helsing is investing 350 million pounds in the UK: SG-1 Fathom underwater drones and the Lura AI software are to be produced in Plymouth, with the first systems delivered this year.

Underwater drone Scout: Dutch Ministry of Defence cooperates with Lobster Robotics
Signed on the sidelines of the NATO summit in The Hague: the Netherlands plan to further develop the “Scout” underwater drone together with Lobster Robotics and bring a military version into service with the navy.

Counter-drone on naval vessels: FN Herstal bets on the Sea Defnder weapon station
Counter-drone defence with a machine gun instead of expensive missiles: FN Herstal is positioning the Sea Defnder against aerial and surface drones. According to the manufacturer, first orders from the Netherlands, Belgium and Brazil are already in place.

Underwater drone R7 Compact ROV: Belgian Navy tests Exail system at “Spanish Minex”
At the mine countermeasures exercise “Spanish Minex”, Exail's new R7 Compact ROV underwater drone had to prove itself under operational conditions. Belgium has been using six of them since April – in addition to its REMUS drones.

Sea drones from Ukraine: military intelligence service GUR presents Magura V7 as successor to the V5
The larger Magura V7 follows the Magura V5: GUR's sea drones are getting heavier, gaining range and carrying missiles. At the same time, Ukraine is looking for export customers for the Seawolf, and Russia is planning its own naval regiments with unmanned systems.

Underwater drones from Helsing: AI system Lura to monitor the oceans with the SG-1 Fathom glider
With Lura and SG-1 Fathom, Helsing aims to reshape maritime surveillance: underwater drones in swarms, an acoustic AI model and a single operator. The system has already been demonstrated in Portsmouth, and deployment is planned for this year.

Sea drone Magura-7 brings down Russian Su-30SM Flanker
For the first time, a Ukrainian sea drone has shot down a Russian supersonic combat aircraft. Budanov names the missile used, while Russian military bloggers draw a sobering conclusion for the Black Sea Fleet.

Maritime drones against mines: Thales delivers first autonomous mine-hunting system to the Royal Navy
Four systems this year: under the Franco-British MMCM project, the Royal Navy is receiving autonomous mine hunters from Thales that combine maritime drones, sonar and AI-supported data analysis.
