Underwater drone Scout: Dutch Ministry of Defence cooperates with Lobster Robotics
Signed on the sidelines of the NATO summit in The Hague: the Netherlands plan to further develop the “Scout” underwater drone together with Lobster Robotics and bring a military version into service with the navy.

The Dutch Ministry of Defence intends to further develop the “Scout” underwater drone together with Lobster Robotics. The cooperation agreement was signed by State Secretary Gijs Tuinman and Stephan Rutten, managing director of Lobster Robotics, at the NATO summit in The Hague. The Dutch Navy uses the drone in the Rapid Adoption Action Plan (RAAP) project, a NATO initiative to make new technologies quickly usable for military purposes.
The “Scout” can detect, identify and classify objects on the seabed. The navy plans to put into service a version of the drone adapted to military needs.
Tuinman stressed: “Dual-use technologies such as the Scout make us faster, smarter and more effective. Within the NATO framework, we are thus jointly strengthening our technological superiority and operational strength.”
