Combat drone Bayraktar Akinci receives Al-Tariq precision munitions from Edge
Two new agreements at SAHA 2026: Edge from the Emirates and Baykar from Türkiye are bringing the Al-Tariq munition to the Akinci combat drone and plan to market each other's products in future.

Edge, the defence and technology group from the United Arab Emirates, and Baykar from Türkiye are moving closer together strategically in unmanned systems and precision weapons – with consequences for the Akinci combat drone. At SAHA 2026, the two companies signed two further agreements intended to expand the partnership noticeably.
At the core, Edge is integrating its combat-proven Al-Tariq precision munition into the Bayraktar Akinci – a Turkish high altitude long endurance (HALE) combat drone. The weapons are of modular design, can be used by day and night and in all weather conditions, and are intended to give the Akinci additional air-to-ground capabilities.
The defence industry is increasingly moving towards integrated end-to-end solutions. This partnership with Baykar is a direct example of that— Hamad Al Marar, CEO of Edge
Combining modern precision munitions with the Akinci platform creates scalable, flexible capabilities for complex operational scenarios, Al Marar explained. Baykar CEO Haluk Bayraktar highlighted the operational benefit:
Through the various munition integrations on our Bayraktar Akinci platform, we offer our users a significantly wider choice and operational flexibility in the area of operations.— Haluk Bayraktar, CEO of Baykar
Joint marketing beyond the combat drone
Closer commercial cooperation was also agreed: in future, both manufacturers are to market each other's products and include them in joint customer offers. Edge and Baykar are thus increasingly appearing internationally as suppliers of fully integrated drone and precision-strike solutions.
The new agreements build on an existing cooperation: the partners had previously agreed to integrate the Desert Sting 16 guided glide bomb on the Bayraktar TB2.
