Combat drones for the French Army: Harmattan AI to deliver 1,000 quadcopters
Combat drones made in France: Harmattan AI has won the DGA's Europe-wide tender. The first 1,000 micro-drones will be delivered by the end of 2025, mainly to units taking part in the large-scale exercise “Orion” in 2026.

The initial order for which Harmattan AI recently won the contract from the French defence procurement agency DGA covers 1,000 combat drones. Deliveries run from October to the end of 2025, primarily to the units involved in the large-scale exercise “Orion” in 2026. Soldiers are also to be trained with the drones and prepared for operations.
Combat drones made entirely in France
The micro-drones are quadcopters developed and assembled in France. As standard they carry an electro-optical camera; an infrared camera can be added as an option. The requirement was formulated at the end of 2024; in December 2024 the procurement agency DGA and the French Army, together with members of the “Defence Airborne Drones Pact”, then surveyed the offers available in the target segment.
The French company Harmattan AI prevailed in the Europe-wide procurement. The drones are manufactured entirely in France – the infrared cameras are supplied by Lynred.
Weighing 1.8 kilograms, the drones have a range of two kilometres and an endurance of 40 minutes.
