Drone manufacturer ODM presents new modules for the Tano drone at AFCEA
Parachute, precision drop, AI-supported reconnaissance and tethered operation: German drone manufacturer ODM is expanding its modular Tano Concept Family and is showing the new modules in Bonn for the first time.

Current developments in Ukraine show that the warfare of the future will be unmanned – and drone manufacturer ODM is responding. On the battlefield, reconnaissance drones, first-person view (FPV) drones and specialised drones dominate the picture, while in the rear areas they are also becoming increasingly important for transport and logistics.
In response, the German company has developed the fully modular Tano Concept Family. It has now presented matching expansion modules for the first time at AFCEA in Bonn.
Monolithic systems can be adapted only to a limited extent. Tano, by contrast, follows an openly structured building-block principle that allows mission modules to be swapped quickly – for electro-optical reconnaissance as well as for logistical cargo transport or stationary surveillance.
ODM states: “This modularity is not a retrofitted extension, but the core of the concept.”
What the drone manufacturer is showing in Bonn for the first time
The new expansion modules for the Green Cube model are on display for the first time at AFCEA in Bonn. They can also be retrofitted to all Tano platforms:
- Tano Parachute Recovery System (PRS): In an emergency, a mechanical spring-based parachute system ensures a controlled landing. This protects both the cargo and uninvolved third parties in the area of operations.
- Tano Precision Drop: Designed for tactical resupply, emergency relief or special missions. The module can release small quantities – such as medicines – precisely and in a controlled manner, even in impassable terrain or terrain under enemy surveillance.
- Tano ISR+: The module provides precise real-time intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) with AI-supported image analysis, in all light and weather conditions. Objects and people are thus reliably detected, identified and tracked.
- Tano Tethered ISR module: Designed for persistent, spectrum-discreet surveillance missions. Because the system is continuously supplied with power, its flight time is unlimited; it remains invisible to electronic reconnaissance – ideal for highly sensitive missions in which radio signals pose a risk.
