Fibre-optic drones in the drone war: video shows a field covered in cables in eastern Ukraine
Filmed from a Ukrainian Mi-24 attack helicopter, a video shows a frontline field full of glittering fibre-optic cables. They come from fibre-optic drones, whose control link can be neither located nor electronically jammed.

A recent video vividly illustrates the scale of the drone war in Ukraine: it shows a field in the front-line area where fibre-optic cables from fibre-optic drones glitter in the sun everywhere.
The crew of a Ukrainian Mi-24 attack helicopter filmed the scene during an operational flight; the footage was published on the Instagram channel qnesko007.
The cables are used to control drones flown from a first-person perspective (first-person view, FPV). Their advantage: electromagnetic warfare cannot touch them, and the drones can be neither located nor electronically jammed. This further intensifies the dynamics of drone operations at the front.
