About Electro Optic Systems (EOS)
Electro Optic Systems (EOS) is an Australian defence and space technology company listed on the ASX under the code EOS. Its head office is in Symonston in Canberra, and it states that it has designed, manufactured and exported advanced technology systems for more than 40 years. Its subsidiaries include MARSS, EOS Defense Systems USA and KiwiStar Optics.
The defence portfolio covers remote weapon systems such as the R400, R600 and R800, counter-drone systems and high-energy laser weapons. Slinger is a lightweight counter-drone system built around a 30 x 113 mm M230LF cannon with proximity-fuzed ammunition and an Echodyne radar. Apollo is a high-energy laser designed to defeat Group 1 to 3 UAS at power levels of up to 150 kW. In 2025 EOS signed what it describes as the first export contract for a 100 kW-class laser weapon, with the Netherlands Ministry of Defence, and in September 2026 the two parties signed a letter of intent on developing Apollo into an operational system.
In 2026 EOS completed the acquisition of the defence business of MARSS, whose NiDAR software provides AI-enabled command and control and sensor fusion; MARSS continues to operate as “MARSS, an EOS Company”. In February 2026, at the World Defense Show, EOS and the Turkish company Roketsan signed a strategic partnership agreement to pursue integrated counter-drone and force protection opportunities in selected markets.
