Counter-UAS from a single source: EOS completes acquisition of MARSS defence business
Effectors meet AI-supported command and control: following the completed acquisition, Electro Optic Systems is integrating MARSS's NiDAR platform. The goal is counter-UAS from first detection to engagement – with the MARSS brand and management unchanged.

The defence business of MARSS now belongs to Electro Optic Systems (EOS); the acquisition has been successfully completed. EOS is thus combining its own effector systems with MARSS's AI-supported, field-proven command-and-control technology and will in future operate as a global provider of integrated solutions for countering unmanned aircraft systems (counter-UAS).
The link between the two companies is not new: they have been working together in a long-standing partnership for several years, for example on counter-UAS programmes and on security in various theatres of operation around the globe. From the company's perspective, the integration of MARSS into the EOS group is therefore a “logical next step”. It “combines the technological depth, reach and scalability of EOS with the combat-proven solutions of MARSS”.
Customers are above all to benefit from more integration and less complexity. Detection and identification, decision support and finally the engagement of a threat – this complete capability is now delivered by a single company. It also bears responsibility for the entire system and can scale it from a single site up to a nationwide programme.
NiDAR at the core of counter-UAS
At the heart of the deal is NiDAR, MARSS's AI-supported platform for command and control and sensor fusion. Across all domains – air, land, sea surface and underwater – it provides a comprehensive situational picture, detects and identifies threats and supports decision-making. NiDAR condenses information from a wide variety of sources into a single, clear situational picture, enabling operators to make faster and better-founded decisions.
Because the architecture is open and modular, the platform can also be connected to existing sensors, effectors and command systems as well as to third-party products. Customers therefore do not need to replace their existing systems entirely, and their previous investments remain protected.
EOS's anti-drone solutions will also be integrated into NiDAR, including several remote weapon systems and the company's new high-energy laser weapon systems. According to the press release, this creates a “continuous, seamless single-source capability that accompanies customers from the first detection of a threat to its engagement – regardless of whether it is a single drone or a coordinated drone swarm”.
The integration of MARSS into EOS fundamentally changes what we can offer our customers. We are evolving from a provider of first-class effectors into a company that develops, integrates and supports complete, AI-supported counter-drone systems from a single source.— Andreas Schwer, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of EOS
Schwer added: “NiDAR has proven itself under some of the most demanding operating conditions worldwide. Combining this platform with our remote weapon systems and our high-energy laser technology enables customers to respond to drone threats in a layered and intelligent way across all domains. We are delighted to welcome the MARSS team to EOS and to present our combined strengths at Eurosatory.”
I am proud of what the MARSS team has built with NiDAR, and of the trust our customers place in us when it comes to protecting their most critical infrastructure and facilities. Joining EOS is a significant step that changes nothing about our identity: the same team, the same focus and the same commitment to our customers – but now with the strength of a globally operating group behind us.— Johannes Pinl, founder and Chief Executive Officer of MARSS
Existing MARSS customers and partners need not prepare for any changes. The company will continue to operate under the name “MARSS, an EOS Company”, and founder and CEO Johannes Pinl as well as the existing management team will retain their roles.
