About Thunderstrike Aviation
Thunderstrike Aviation, Inc. is based in Altamonte Springs, Florida, and was founded by its CEO David Schmidt. In 2024 it set up the Danish subsidiary Thunderstrike EU ApS, which opened a 3,000 m² development and test hangar at Hans Christian Andersen Airport near Odense in August 2024. In August 2025 the company inaugurated a 5,000 m² drone factory there, intended to produce up to 500 large surveillance drones a year and to create up to 240 jobs over time. The airport also hosts the UAS Denmark Test Center.
The main product is the TSA Fantom MK2, a modular fixed-wing UAV offered in a short take-off and landing version (FW) and a vertical take-off and landing version (VTOL). Both are specified for around 30 hours of endurance with a payload of around 45 kg; trade press cites a maximum range of 3,000 km. According to reports, the Fantom MK2 has been used for military surveillance, border patrol and civil protection.
Thunderstrike also develops propulsion for unmanned aircraft. Its first technology is a line of multi-fuel engines in 200 cc and 400 cc versions, which the company says run so efficiently that exhaust temperatures stay close to 43 °C, enabling long flight times. Thunderstrike EU is listed by the defence and security association of the Confederation of Danish Industry.
