Wingcopter

Wingcopter GmbH was founded in 2017 by Tom Plümmer, Jonathan Hesselbarth and Ansgar Kadura and is headquartered in Weiterstadt near Darmstadt. The company describes itself as an aviation company that both manufactures drone technology and operates drone services for customers.

Its best-known product is the Wingcopter 198, an electric tilt-rotor aircraft that takes off and lands vertically and cruises in fixed-wing mode. It is used for delivering medical and other supplies, including projects in Malawi, Japan and Mexico, and has been extended to long-range LiDAR surveying.

Through its security and defence division, Wingcopter presented the all-electric Wingcopter 262 reconnaissance drone in September 2026. In February 2026 the company agreed with Ukraine's TAF Industries to set up a joint venture under the Build with Ukraine framework to produce TAF reconnaissance drones in Germany.
