Counter-UAS from Czechia: LLP Holding shows JWI-4000 UAV interceptor at DSEI

Up to 4,000 metres altitude, 300 km/h top speed and a directional fragmentation warhead: with the JWI-4000, LLP Holding brings a counter-UAS building block to London. The manufacturer did not give dimensions.

Czech company LLP Holding has presented a new interceptor for counter-UAS defence at the DSEI defence exhibition in London: the JWI-4000, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The company specialises in advanced technologies for security and defence.

The wings of the JWI-4000 UAV system fold. With an optional booster, the interceptor can also take off almost vertically. It climbs at 50 metres per second to an altitude of up to 4,000 metres.

At maximum altitude, the system covers a distance of up to 70 kilometres at up to 200 km/h; its top speed is 300 km/h. With these figures, the JWI-4000 lies within the range required to intercept a broad spectrum of today's common reconnaissance and attack drones.

Autonomous counter-UAS with fragmentation warhead

LLP did not comment on the dimensions or weight of the JWI-4000. Based on a model shown in London, a wingspan of about one metre and a length of about 1.5 metres seem plausible.

According to the manufacturer, the JWI-4000 intercepts target drones autonomously – made possible by several advanced sensors supplemented by artificial intelligence; as a result, the system cannot be jammed. The target UAV is destroyed with a directional fragmentation warhead weighing 1.5 kilograms.

According to LLP, the JWI-4000 can draw on the existing sensor infrastructure of air defence networks. It is also prepared for the Asterix protocol and can be integrated with dedicated detection radars. The Asteriy protocol is a universally structured exchange of surveillance information from Eurocontrol.

Czech company LLP Holding is already deploying its autonomous attack UAV system MTS in Ukraine. It is conceivable that the JWI-4000 will soon be used there too – or already is.
