Interceptor drones for Ukraine: Germany funds tens of thousands from Quantum Systems

Several tens of thousands of interceptor drones from Quantum Systems are to go to Ukraine as part of Germany's military aid package for winter 2026/2027 – funded by Germany, built in Ukraine. The company has also agreed to cooperate with Fire Point.

Germany will fund several tens of thousands of interceptor drones from Quantum Systems for Ukraine – as announced by Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The drones are part of Germany's military aid package for winter 2026/2027; they will be manufactured in Ukraine.

Ukraine's counter-drone defence against Russian attacks is thus to gain significantly in capability. Interceptor systems already in service will be scaled up through the order, and production in Ukraine will be expanded.

The interceptors were developed by Quantum WIY Industries, the company's Ukrainian team. They are intended to protect cities as well as civilian facilities and critical infrastructure when hostile drones attack. On the software side they are integrated into MOSAIC UXS, the Quantum Systems suite. The joint production programme responds to the changed aerial threat over Ukraine – faster jet-powered Russian attack drones are increasingly being deployed.

Ukraine needs interceptor drones at industrial scale. By expanding production in Ukraine, we can respond faster to the immediate threat while at the same time building an industrial capability that will also strengthen Germany and its allies.— Sven Kruck, Co-CEO of Quantum Systems

Interceptor drones from the German-Ukrainian production network

The programme is embedded in Quantum Systems' German-Ukrainian production network, which continues to grow: Quantum Frontline Industries, Quantum WIY Industries and Quantum Tencore Industries are part of it. The model combines front-line experience from Ukraine with industrial capacity from Germany. Two goals lie behind it: a larger production scale for Ukraine and longer-term manufacturing capacity for Germany and allied armed forces.

Quantum Systems has had a growing presence in Ukraine since 2022 and employs several hundred staff there. Experience from the front feeds directly into product development – to this end the company cooperates closely with Ukrainian defence units.

In addition, Quantum Systems and Fire Point have signed a letter of intent – on the occasion of the Industry Round Table attended by President Volodymyr Zelensky and Chancellor Merz. The subject of the cooperation: new technologies for unmanned systems and for defending against advanced aerial threats.
