Reconnaissance drones and more: Ukraine’s National Guard reorders Linza and Zoom from QFI

The National Guard of Ukraine is adding reconnaissance drones and multi-purpose drones: Quantum Frontline Industries (QFI) will deliver more Linza and Zoom in 2027 than under the first order – and is quintupling its production capacity in Germany.

More Zoom reconnaissance drones and more Linza multi-purpose drones for the National Guard of Ukraine: Quantum Frontline Industries (QFI), the German-Ukrainian joint venture, has received a follow-up order for both drones. Delivery is due in 2027, on a larger scale than under the first order from 2026. At the same time, QFI intends to quintuple its German production capacity by 2027.

Signed on 5 October

The signing took place on 5 October in Ukraine. Those involved were Matthias Lehna, Vice President at Quantum Systems, Pavlo Kosolapkin, CTO and co-founder of Frontline Robotics, and, for the Ukrainian National Guard, its commander, Major General Oleksandr Pivnenko.

QFI is still due to complete the first production order as planned in 2026. What the new contract covers:

  • Multi-purpose drones of the Linza type.
  • Reconnaissance drones of the Zoom type.
  • More units than the order for 2026 provided for.
  • Delivery to the National Guard over the course of 2027.

Both systems come from Frontline Robotics; they were developed along the operational requirements formulated by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Reconnaissance drones developed in Ukraine, built in Germany

QFI emerged from the “Build with Ukraine” initiative; it is regarded as the first defence-industrial joint venture between Europe and Ukraine.

Development and operational experience from Ukraine meets production capacity in Germany: additional units are to be built there, while feedback from Ukrainian units continues to determine how the drones are developed further.

From ramp-up to series production

QFI regards the follow-up order and the planned fivefold increase in capacity as a step from the initial ramp-up phase towards sustained production at higher volumes.

The National Guard also sees strategic weight in the expansion for Ukraine: Major General Pivnenko emphasised how significant Ukrainian alternatives to the widely used foreign systems are.

The German site is to provide additional capacity; the focus remains on Ukrainian technology and operational experience.
