Drone technology and middleware: Quantum Systems and Blackned network unmanned systems
Multi-sensor drones on one side, tactical communication middleware on the other: Quantum Systems and Blackned are combining their drone technology to transmit data securely and across domains in combat environments.

Digitalising unmanned systems in modern combat environments and networking them securely – Quantum Systems and Blackned intend to work on this together in future. The cooperation combines drone technology with communication software. A recent press release describes it as follows: “This pioneering partnership unites the highly developed multi-sensor drones (unmanned aircraft systems, UAS) from Quantum Systems with Blackned's Tactical Core Information and Communication Middleware”. It adds: “The aim is to set a new, advanced standard for operational efficiency and integration.”

“Support for different transmission systems and independence from specific applications enable a high degree of adaptability – from manned and unmanned platforms to existing missions, operational scenarios and systems already in use”— Joel Langenberg, CEO of Blackned
Drone technology with open interfaces
Via open interfaces and software development kits, the most suitable third-party applications in each case can be integrated seamlessly and made ready for immediate use.
“This partnership is a significant step towards secure, cross-domain data transmission”— Sven Kruck, co-CEO of Quantum Systems
Because different transmission systems are supported and there is no tie to specific applications, the cooperation is to offer “previously unattained flexibility for military operations”, according to the press release. It goes on: “This opens up entirely new possibilities for the Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces).”
