Drone manufacturer Schiebel supplies Camcopter S-100 to Chile’s Carabineros
For the first time, a police force in Latin America is relying on the Camcopter S-100: the Carabineros de Chile have bought the system from drone manufacturer Schiebel. It is to be used mainly in the hard-to-reach Araucanía region.

The Carabineros de Chile, Chile’s national police, have bought the Camcopter S-100, an unmanned aircraft system, from drone manufacturer Schiebel. No other police authority in Latin America has used the system so far. It is intended to strengthen the force’s operational efficiency and public safety.
According to reports from South America, the S-100 is intended primarily for the Araucanía region. There, the difficult terrain often severely restricts conventional security operations or makes them impossible altogether.
What the drone manufacturer says about the order
Schiebel itself writes in a new press release:
“This strategic acquisition underlines the commitment of the Carabineros de Chile to use state-of-the-art technologies to fulfil their mission and improve public safety in the long term”— Schiebel, press release
The Chairman of the Schiebel Group, Hans Georg Schiebel, added:
“We are honoured that the Carabineros de Chile have selected the Camcopter S-100 to expand their capabilities”— Hans Georg Schiebel, Chairman of the Schiebel Group
“The system will play a crucial role in strengthening public safety.”— Hans Georg Schiebel, Chairman of the Schiebel Group
