Reconnaissance drones: Quantum Systems wins two tenders in Spain
A framework contract for 91 Vector systems for the army and marine infantry, plus Twister for the air force's special forces: Spain is relying on two reconnaissance drones from Quantum Systems at once.

The Spanish Armed Forces are procuring two different reconnaissance drones from Quantum Systems: Vector and Twister. Madrid is thus the first customer to use the manufacturer's full spectrum of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities.
According to the company, the framework contract with the Spanish Armed Forces gives the troops new medium-range reconnaissance capabilities. It covers 91 Vector systems with 182 drones in total. Vector is used for ISR missions; the system offers endurance, reliability and operational flexibility.
Reconnaissance drones to arrive from 2025
The Spanish Army (Ejército de Tierra) and the Spanish Marine Infantry (Infantería de Marina) will be the first to receive the system. First deliveries are planned as early as 2025.
Martin Karkour, Chief Sales Officer of Quantum Systems, said: “Spain will take a pioneering role in the use of tactical aerial reconnaissance in Europe”. He continued: “The Spanish Armed Forces have recognised that aerial reconnaissance is a strategic advantage, for all services and at all command levels. We are proud to support them with scalable, comprehensive intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) solutions that enable faster and better-informed decisions.”
At the same time, the Spanish Air Force has purchased several Twister systems for its special forces, including options for more. This gives these units short-range reconnaissance systems for highly dynamic missions.
