Reconnaissance drones for Spain: army orders Vector systems from Quantum Systems
Around 27 million euros for 91 Vector systems: Spain has chosen reconnaissance drones from Quantum Systems. Telefónica narrowly lost out; the framework contract is still pending and could grow to around 150 systems.

The Spanish armed forces have ordered Vector reconnaissance drones worth a total of around 27 million euros from Quantum Systems, according to a report by Infodefensa. A total of 91 systems, each with two drones and one ground station, are to be procured.
The unmanned reconnaissance systems are to equip the army and the marine infantry. Each system costs 301,000 euros (plus VAT).
A close decision on the reconnaissance drones
According to the report, around a dozen companies originally submitted bids. Telefónica reached the final selection alongside Quantum Systems; the German drone manufacturer reportedly won by a very narrow margin.
The type decision will now be followed by final negotiations and the signing of the framework contract. With the budget already approved, the contract could later be expanded to around 150 systems.
