Unmanned ground vehicles are to be built jointly in Egypt: Turkish defence manufacturer Havelsan has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Kader Advanced Industrial Factory. The company belongs to the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI). The plan is to manufacture unmanned ground vehicles (UGV).

According to Havelsan, the UGV systems will roll off the production lines at Kader's Egyptian facilities. Havelsan will contribute technology, licences and technical support.

The agreement was signed by Major General Amr Abdel Aziz, Chairman of Kader Factory, and Şevket Ünal, Deputy General Manager of Havelsan. The Turkish ambassador in Cairo, Salih Mutlu Şen, was present.

Havelsan know-how for unmanned ground vehicles

Havelsan has recently positioned itself as an internationally competitive supplier of autonomous systems. The company develops innovative solutions for unmanned platforms, including AI-supported decision-making, real-time data processing, swarm intelligence, mission management and sensor integration.

These capabilities form the basis for UGV systems deployable in very different scenarios – from reconnaissance and surveillance to support tasks and border protection missions.

For Şevket Ünal, the agreement is “more than a mere technology transfer”. He said: “It stands for the exchange of know-how and strategic vision. We are proud to manufacture state-of-the-art unmanned systems together with our Egyptian partners. This cooperation lastingly strengthens both countries' defence capabilities.”

Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen also underlined the importance of the partnership: “The Kader factory impresses with its technological capability and high quality standards. I am convinced that this cooperation marks the start of a long-term strategic alliance between Havelsan and Kader.”
