UGV Gereon gets armed: ARX Robotics and Roboneers integrate the Saber weapon module
With the remotely operated Saber module from Roboneers, the Gereon UGV from ARX Robotics becomes a combat platform. The first integration tests have been completed, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces are to receive first systems before the end of 2026.

Roboneers of Ukraine has successfully completed the first tests integrating its remotely operated Saber weapon module on the Gereon unmanned ground platform. The unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) comes from the German defence technology company ARX Robotics. First systems are scheduled for the Ukrainian Armed Forces before the end of 2026.
Saber combat modules are to be integrated in the M2 and MK 19 (M) configurations. Saber provides fire support, while Gereon contributes mobility and power as well as reconnaissance and surveillance capabilities. The modular weapon stations from Roboneers can be fitted with various weapon types, ranging from assault rifles to grenade launchers.
The Gereon platform from ARX Robotics is already in service in Ukraine. It can be configured for tasks such as reconnaissance, logistics, counter-drone defence, electronic warfare or casualty transport. The company describes it as the largest networked fleet of UGVs in Ukraine supplied by a Western manufacturer.
ARX co-founder Maximilian Wied says: “Together with Roboneers, we are showing that new defence tech companies are able to deliver at the pace of modern battlefields – and to provide capabilities where they are needed most.”
UGV as part of the German-Ukrainian partnership
The integration is part of a strategic partnership. It was agreed on 4 October 2026 in Kyiv in the presence of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Even before that, the two companies had announced the founding of the joint venture ARX Industries, which is intended to expand production of the Rys PRO unmanned ground vehicle.
