Counter-drone: Terma acquires British C-UAS specialist OSL Technology
With the acquisition of OSL Technology, Danish group Terma gains expertise from civil airspace surveillance. The aim is an open ecosystem for counter-drone defence and the protection of critical infrastructure – civil and military.

Danish aerospace company Terma A/S has acquired OSL Technology. The British developer specialises in security and protection systems against drones. The completed purchase is an important step in Terma’s strategy: the company aims to be among the market leaders in counter-drone defence – counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UAS) – and in the protection of critical infrastructure.
The British specialist in counter-drone technologies and intelligent security solutions has its roots in civil airspace surveillance. Major airports and national infrastructure facilities use OSL to detect, track and deal with drones and other threats in complex environments. Terma, for its part, has decades of experience in defence and security. Customers for its radars and its command and control systems include navies, air defence units and companies that operate critical infrastructure.
An open ecosystem for counter-drone defence
In future, the two companies will combine defence-grade sensors, AI-based analytics and operational experience – in an open, modular ecosystem. Combining Terma’s situational awareness expertise with OSL’s counter-drone system creates end-to-end coverage with intelligent data fusion for the sea, air and land domains – including third-party sensors and effectors. The goal is a trusted operational picture extending from the tactical to the strategic level.
Terma CEO Henriette H. Thygesen said: “OSL’s operational performance shows that it delivers where it matters most. Combined with Terma’s multi-domain capabilities, built on decades of providing defence-grade situational awareness and command and control, and including our partnerships in Ukraine, we now offer one of the most comprehensive C-UAS solutions on the market”. She added: “It sets new standards for protecting people, airspace and critical infrastructure. This is not only about Denmark here and now: it delivers a strong, holistic C-UAS solution that can also contribute to major European projects such as the proposed EU drone initiative.”
The company intends to serve customers worldwide, both in C-UAS and in the protection of critical sites. OSL’s operational efficiency is to be combined with Terma’s technological base and global presence. The result is intended to be reliable, scalable solutions for civil and military users.
Mark Legh-Smith, CEO of OSL, also welcomed the deal: “Joining forces with Terma is an exceptional opportunity for OSL and our customers. Terma’s multi-domain expertise together with our C-UAS platform and agility creates unrivalled capability – from sensor to decision to response. That means faster detection, smarter classification and precisely coordinated action. It is the perfect combination of innovation and reliability”.
