Ukrainian drones made in Europe: Quantum Systems and Frontline Robotics found QFI
Combat-proven, soon series-produced in Europe: with Quantum Frontline Industries, Frontline Robotics and Quantum Systems are setting up a joint venture to manufacture Ukrainian drones industrially – all for the Ukrainian armed forces; the site is not disclosed.

Ukrainian drones that have proven themselves in combat and perform multiple functions are being manufactured industrially in Europe for the first time. Behind this is Quantum Frontline Industries, a new defence joint venture with German and Ukrainian participation. Production is part of “Build with Ukraine”, a new initiative.
Quantum Frontline Industries (QFI) is jointly owned by Quantum Systems and Frontline Robotics. On the production line, proven drone technology from Ukraine meets German know-how in scaling and automation – a new standard for cross-border cooperation in the defence sector. It also creates additional opportunities for Ukrainians to find work in Germany.
Ukrainian drones go entirely to the armed forces
The tasks are clearly divided: Quantum Systems provides the industrial infrastructure and production processes. Frontline Robotics, in turn, contributes the licensed designs, handles training and ensures comprehensive support for operation and maintenance in line with NATO standards. The drones produced go, at 100 per cent, to the Ukrainian armed forces.
Sven Kruck, Co-CEO of Quantum Systems, said: “The Ukrainians have revolutionised drone warfare; now together we will revolutionise industrial warfare. For Quantum Systems, this is the logical next step in our proven support for Ukraine. Together with Frontline Robotics, we will build on this experience and create Europe's first foreign production capacity of this scale for Ukraine.”
For Frontline Robotics, CEO Yevhen Tretiak said: “We regard it as an important mission to build the first Ukrainian-German defence joint venture together with our partner Quantum Systems. We are confident that our example will pave the way for further cooperation of this kind. As part of this cooperation, the Ukrainian armed forces will be equipped with thousands of drones to push back the Russian aggressor.”
Scale, expand, create as the guiding principle
The newly founded joint venture is managed by Matthias Lehna. The 37-year-old served as an infantry officer in the Bundeswehr before moving to the Cyber Innovation Hub in Berlin and then to Quantum Systems. There, he has held the position of Director Governmental Relations and Business Development since 2023.
Lehna sums up his plans for QFI as follows: “QFI has three goals: scale, expand and create. Our new joint venture will combine German engineering with Ukrainian urgency to series-produce urgently needed drones for Ukraine, expand the portfolio and develop new products that push the boundaries of what is possible.”
Mykyta Rozhkov, Chief Business Development Officer at Frontline Robotics, explained the reasons for the cooperation: “Our drones are indispensable and in high demand at the front in Ukraine, which is why we need to expand production. In wartime, it is difficult to find secure manufacturing sites within Ukraine. Through the partnership with Quantum Systems, we can expand our production capacity and strengthen the Ukrainian defence forces even further. We are very glad to have such a partner at our side.”
QFI is based on the strategic partnership that the two companies signed at the beginning of this year. For security reasons, the location of the joint venture is not being disclosed.
