Rheinmetall Unmanned Vehicles d.o.o. in Zagreb, Croatia, was formed after Rheinmetall acquired 51 per cent of DOK-ING, a company founded in 1991; founder Vjekoslav Majetić retained 49 per cent. The agreement was signed in Zagreb in March 2026 and completed on 1 July 2026. The company is part of the Rheinmetall Group and serves as its competence centre for heavy autonomous vehicles, with development, engineering and management remaining in Croatia.
It develops remotely operated and increasingly autonomous platforms for hazardous environments, including humanitarian and military demining, IED disposal, route clearance, military engineering, CBRN response, firefighting and critical infrastructure protection. Its Komodo is a modular, hybrid, uncrewed tracked engineering platform with a payload capacity above 8.5 tonnes.
According to Rheinmetall, DOK-ING has delivered around 500 platforms to armed forces, civil protection authorities and security operators in more than 40 countries, and its mine clearance systems are in use in Ukraine. Planned work includes an unmanned armed Wingman support vehicle for operation alongside tanks and infantry fighting vehicles and systems for mine clearing and mine laying.
