Quantum Systems funding round raises 160 million euros – Balderton Capital leads
Fresh capital for Quantum Systems: alongside existing backers, Hensoldt and Airbus Defence and Space are among the investors in the funding round. The money is to go into expansion, production, drone systems, software and AI.

Led by Balderton Capital, Quantum Systems has closed a funding round of 160 million euros. Also taking part were Hensoldt, Airbus Defence and Space, Bullhound Capital and LP&E AG, together with existing investors such as HV Capital, Project A, Peter Thiel, DTCP, Omnes Capital, Notion and Porsche SE.
This brings the total capital raised by the company to 310 million euros. The company itself describes what the money is for: it wants to “accelerate global expansion, scale production and further develop its autonomous drone systems, software and AI”.
The round follows several years in which revenue grew by more than 100 per cent annually. The workforce currently numbers around 550 employees, spread across sites in Germany, Australia, Ukraine and Romania.
Quantum Systems: modular systems and orders from Spain
Since its founding in 2015, the company has made a name for itself above all with modular, dual-use unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). Its most recent successes include two major contracts from the Spanish Armed Forces.
Florian Seibel, co-founder and co-CEO, puts the round into context:
“The need for sovereign airborne reconnaissance has never been greater than it is today. Our systems – a powerful combination of hardware and software – are designed for the realities of modern defence and security requirements: autonomous, interoperable and proven under extreme conditions. With the support of our new and existing investors, we are ready to become the European market leader for robotic and AI-supported aerial reconnaissance solutions. We provide public and private customers with the high-resolution and accurate data they rely on for their daily decisions.”— Florian Seibel, co-CEO and co-founder of Quantum Systems
For Sven Kruck, the second co-CEO, the closing marks a turning point:
“The successful closing of our Series C funding round is a significant milestone in our company's history. This investment enables us to pursue our vision and to strengthen our market position considerably. We will expand our global production capacities to meet the growing demand for our AI-supported intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) systems, and broaden our global market presence.”— Sven Kruck, co-CEO of Quantum Systems
