About Hensoldt
Hensoldt was formed in 2017 when the defence-electronics business of Airbus was carved out and sold to the investor KKR; the name refers to the 19th-century optics pioneer Moritz Hensoldt. Headquartered in Taufkirchen near Munich, the company has been listed on the Frankfurt stock exchange since 2020 and develops radar, optronics, electronic-warfare and avionics products for all domains.
Its counter-UAS portfolio is marketed as Xpeller, introduced in 2017. The modular system combines radar, cameras, radio-frequency detectors and direction finders with jammers to detect, classify and neutralise small drones at ranges from a few hundred metres to several kilometres. Portable and vehicle-mounted configurations exist.
Hensoldt also supplies radars and mission equipment for unmanned platforms, including sensors for the Eurodrone programme, and is active in air-defence surveillance projects.
