Kizilelma: production version S2 fires live from its internal weapons bay for the first time in Çorlu

Roketsan's Teber-82 and Aselsan's Tolun scored direct hits: Baykar has integrated the internal weapons bay on the Kizilelma. The unmanned combat aircraft is meant to penetrate dense air defences as a result.

The Bayraktar Kizilelma, Türkiye's unmanned combat aircraft, continues to develop. For the first time, the production version S2 has successfully live-fired weapons from its internal weapons bay at the Çorlu flight test centre. The drone scored direct hits with both the Teber-82 from Roketsan and Tolun, the precision munition from Aselsan .

With the integrated internal weapons bay, Baykar has broadened the Kizilelma's range of options for precision strikes in heavily defended operational areas. Because the weapons are carried inside the fuselage, the radar signature remains considerably lower; aerodynamics and speed also benefit. In future, the drone should thus operate effectively even in areas with dense air defences.

Further Kizilelma weapons and milestones

At the same time, Baykar is working on integrating further domestically produced precision weapons. The Kizilelma had already successfully tested the Gökdogan air-to-air missile, the Tolun, Teber-82, KGK and LGK-82 precision weapons and the supersonic Jet-230 missile.

Further milestones of the programme include the world's first autonomous formation flight of two unmanned combat aircraft and the successful downing of a jet-powered aerial target with a beyond-visual-range (BVR) air-to-air missile. The Kizilelma is thus set to become the central platform for complex air combat missions.
