About Airial UAS
Airial UAS GmbH & Co. KG, formerly known as Airial Robotics, is a Hamburg-based developer of uncrewed aircraft systems for industrial applications. It has a technical development and flight centre in the United Kingdom. The company is led by co-founders Jörg Schamuhn and Clive M. Coote.
Its current aircraft, the GHX25, is a gyrocopter-helicopter crossover that takes off vertically and uses autorotation for lift in long-distance flight and for emergency landings, removing the need for a parachute. The system is designed for BVLOS operations over populated areas and carries a modular payload for LiDAR, RGB, multispectral and thermal sensors or cargo pods. Earlier designs were marketed under the Gyrotrak name.
In July 2024 Deutsche Bahn contracted Airial UAS to jointly develop and operate a system for inspecting tracks, structures and vegetation along its network; the resulting long-range drone was presented as DB UAS at InnoTrans 2024. In October 2025 the first pilots received type ratings for the GHX25.
