Insta

Insta is a family-owned Finnish technology group headquartered in Tampere, marking its 65th anniversary in 2025. The parent company Insta Group Oy is organised into two business areas: Insta Industry for industrial automation and electrification, and Insta Advance for defence, cyber security and software consulting. Its defence business dates back to 1973, when it began as a workshop repairing aircraft gauges. In 2025 the group reported net sales of 197.8 million euros and more than 1,300 employees, with the Insta Advance business area accounting for 41 per cent of group net sales.

In unmanned systems Insta designs, tests and manufactures FPV drones in Finland, currently in 7-inch and 10-inch sizes with a modular design for mission-specific payloads. In August 2026 it signed a multi-year agreement worth up to 14 million euros, including options, to supply such drones for conscript training in Finland. The Insta Steel Eagle™ family combines a drone with a patented explosive charge designed by Insta. The extended-range version, Steel Eagle™ ER, carries a charge of about 3.6 kg that is detonated above the target and spreads more than 3,000 steel or tungsten fragments over an area of about 2,000 square metres; it has been offered for the Ukrainian market.

Insta also develops network-centric, multi-domain command and control and situational awareness systems for land, air and sea, intended for headquarters and field command, including air defence command and control and the Insta Blue Aware™ situational awareness system. Further defence products and services include the cross-domain data exchange product Insta DomainLink Secret™, the Insta SafeLink Secret encryption device, cyber security for military users, avionics maintenance, repair and overhaul, and UAV flight training and consultancy.
