About Lockheed Martin
Lockheed Martin Corporation is a US aerospace, defence and security company headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland. It was formed in 1995 through the merger of Lockheed Corporation and Martin Marietta and is active in aeronautics, missiles and fire control, rotary and mission systems, and space.
Its small unmanned aircraft include the Indago 4 quadcopter and the Stalker VXE30 fixed-wing UAS with vertical launch. Both were selected by the British Ministry of Defence under Project TIQUILA to replace the Desert Hawk 3 mini-UAS of the British Army. At the high end, the Skunk Works unit is developing Vectis, a stealthy collaborative combat aircraft funded with company resources and planned to fly in 2027.
For countering drones Lockheed Martin offers Sanctum, an open-architecture system that uses AI-supported sensor fusion to detect, track and defeat single UAS and swarms with electronic and kinetic effectors. In 2026 the company demonstrated a Sanctum-cued intercept of a one-way attack drone with a JAGM missile fired from its GRIZZLY containerised launcher and invested in the radar and interceptor-drone maker Fortem Technologies.
