Drone trade fair in Vienna: “DroneVation & Defence” returns for its second edition on 21 May
After 49 exhibitors and around 700 trade visitors at the premiere, organiser Militär Aktuell expects more exhibitors and almost twice as many sponsors for the second “DroneVation & Defence” drone trade fair. The programme expands to two stages.

The premiere of “DroneVation & Defence” in Vienna last September was a resounding success: the drone trade fair attracted 49 international exhibitors – from Rheinmetall via Aaronia, Lockheed Martin, General Atomics and Thales to Stark, Schiebel and Quantum Systems – plus around 700 high-level trade visitors from Austria and abroad and 30 keynote speakers and panellists.
The specialist format for unmanned systems and counter-drone defence now takes place for the second time on 21 May. Organiser Militär Aktuell expects growth at every level. Alongside Rheinmetall, Aaronia, General Atomics and Thales, Frequentis, Shield AI and Securiton are already confirmed as sponsors.
Last year we received consistently extremely positive feedback. All sponsors and most exhibitors have renewed their cooperation, and at the same time we are gaining new partners. This makes us very confident that we will once again put on a high-calibre event with strong content— Jürgen Zacharias and Matthias Heigl, Managing Directors of Militär Aktuell
More exhibitors and sponsors at the drone trade fair
It is already clear that the number of exhibitors will rise significantly. A marked increase is also expected for sponsors: compared with the premiere, there are likely to be almost twice as many. Visitor interest remains as high as ever. Representatives of armed forces, ministries and authorities are expected, along with numerous decision-makers from industry, research and security-related organisations.
With ‘DroneVation & Defence’ we are absolutely in tune with the times. Interest in drones, unmanned systems and especially effective counter-drone measures continues to grow at every level – in the air, on the ground and at sea— Jürgen Zacharias
All in all, we are thus offering the largest specialised ‘unmanned platform’ in the entire DACH region.— Jürgen Zacharias
A platform for dialogue, not just an exhibition
“DroneVation & Defence” deliberately sees itself not merely as an exhibition but as a strategic platform for dialogue. This year the presentation and discussion programme spans two stages, focusing on technological innovation, operational experience from current conflicts, and questions of regulation and industry.
Developments in recent years have vividly shown how much drones and counter-UAS systems shape modern battlefields – from the tactical use of small unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) to strategic long-range systems. The need for networking, cooperation and practical discussion is growing accordingly.
This is where Militär Aktuell comes in with the second edition of “DroneVation & Defence”. Vienna will thus once again become the meeting point of the European UAS and counter-UAS community.
