AEL Sistemas

AEL Sistemas is a Brazilian defence company headquartered in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, where it carries out research, development, production, integration and logistics support. It has developed and produced systems since 1982 and has been part of the Elbit Systems group since 2001. Its customers include the Brazilian Air Force, Army and Navy.

In unmanned aircraft AEL Sistemas reports more than 15 years of experience. It is the Brazilian contractor for the Hermes 900, which the Brazilian Air Force operates as the RQ-900; according to the company the type has flown more than 8,000 hours in Brazil. On 30 December 2021 the Air Force signed a contract with AEL Sistemas for two further RQ-900 aircraft. The company also offers other unmanned aircraft of the Elbit Systems group in Brazil, such as the Hermes 450, Hermes 650 Spark and Skylark, and supplies electronic warfare, electro-optical, communications and signals intelligence payloads that can be integrated into UAVs.

Its wider portfolio spans fixed-wing and rotary-wing avionics, communication, command and control, space applications, training and simulation, and land and naval systems. For the Brazilian Air Force it developed Link-BR2, an encrypted data network for sharing images, video and data between air, land and naval units.
